Pumpkin Patch

Mensch, wieso fliegt die Zeit so schnell??? Ich komme kaum noch hinterher meine Geschichten hier zu schreiben.
Diese Woche ist es richtig kalt im Süden von Louisiana geworden und während ich hier sitze und versuche die Ereignisse der letzten Wochen nachzuschreiben, prasselt im Kamin ein warmes Feuer :)
Wie die Bilder deutlich zeigen, geht das mit dem rapiden Wetterwechsel ganz schön schnell. Nicht lange her war barfuss und heiss Standard.

Wir machten einen Ausflug mit Stellas Schulkasse zu Ms Heathers PumkinPatch und es war HEISSSSS
Kürbisse waren überall und genauso waren die Kinder. Es war mächtig was los. Lucien war schon müde bevor der Spass überhaupt begann und hatte auch sonst nicht seinen besten Tag.Nichtsdestotrotz war er nicht zu stoppen als er all die coolen Dinge zum Spielen sah:

Zum Schluss durfte jedes Kind sich einen Kürbis aussuchen und yep, die Qual der Wahl war riesig!

Meeting Shelby

Back in time, while we were in Germany, in between all the business of this trip, I managed to visit my dear friend Kimber 3 times. Eventhough each visit had a very limited amount of time, (between naps and feedings and picking up kids and the normal craziness of two moms) I enjoyed every bit of it to the fullest.
AND we finally got to meet lil Miss Shelby in person!!!!.
When I met Kimber at one of the MOPS meetings back in the days in Leimen, I thought she was a very nice girl.Then after I heard she has 4 kiddos, I thought , man she is brave( especially after I heard how much travelling is going on in this family)!!!! But then I got to meet Silas and just fell in love with him. He was such a sweet lil boy. This was way before we had Lucien and when I found out I was pregnant for Lu, Silas was one of my top favorite names due to this handsome lil dude.And after getting to know his mom better, I fell in love with her aswell. It was way later that I met the rest of the van Essen crew and I have to say they are all such awesome people. Kimber is a wonderful mom and always an encouragement to me. I cought myself more than once , struggling with myself about going somewhere with my two little people,thinking, if Kimber can do it with four( now5) I better be able to do it with 2. Suck it up, mami!!!
Kimber and I started having our Tuesday mornings together and we grew to become really good friends in a very short amount of time.
Remember back in November last year I went on my polish pottery trip. Kimber was one of the gals joining the fun. That´s when she told me about her big secret( lil Miss Shelby being on her way).I had no doubt in my mind that she would be the best to love, handle and guide a bunch of 5. I felt so honored that she shared this secret with me!!

Back to here and now. Shelby was born back in May( man , time flies) and I was so eager to hold her. It was so sweet to see Lucien with her, which reminded us so much of Silas with Lucien when he was this little. And the rest of our kids just jumped back into having a blast together.

We had such a wonderful time together and I miss my Tuesday mornings with you so very much, Kimber.

When Lucien was a whee little baby he used to play with this activity center all the time , in fact he wrestled with it all the time. He saw it at Kimbers house and he was kind of puzzled as if he was thinking, I know this thing but I can´t quite remember....( I try to find a pic of him with it back in the days and will add it later)

Lil Firefighters

Stellas school took a field trip to the local fire department in Gonzales. I could nothing but smile about their symbols on all their vehicles.

If I would have not known it already, this would have been the last piece to the puzzle to understand how serious people here are about their famous Jambalya. Too funny!

The trip happened to be on a Friday when Rick was off and he could join us in the fun.

The kids had a good time eventhough Lucien got a little scared when one guy puts his full gear on. He started crying (poor baby). He was ok as soon as the guy took his mask of again.
They talked to the kids about safety rules and the kids got to ask a lot of questions and toured the whole firestation and jumped in the firefighters beds;).

Stella sat most of the time with her new teacher Mrs Kathy. She really really likes her, which is great for Mommy´s peace while Stella is at school.

We even got to ride in one of the trucks. ( we sat in the front YAY).

In the end, each kid got a firefighter hat and a little goodie bag.

Can you tell, Stella loves her hat!!!!!!!!! She can´t wait to go back one day. Everytime we go to watch one of the cousins play ball, we pass by the firestation and Stella points out HER truck!!!!! and is concerned (if it´s not there), somebody might be having an emergency

Ready for School

Am 27. September war es soweit. Nach einem Wochenende mit wenig Schlaf( dank jet-lag!) hatte Stella ihren 1. Schultag in der Bizzy Bunch Preschool. Ich bin mir sicher, dass ich weitaus nervöser war als mein Schulmädchen.

Ausgerüstet mit allem was man so braucht, natürlich durfte auch hier die deutsche Tradition der Schultüte nicht fehlen( Dankean die Familie Lange!!!),ging es per Auto los.
Mama war aufgeregt, weil die ganze Sache mit Caarpool line und so auch für mich absolutes Neuland war, aber mitlerweile kriegen wir den morgendlichen Ablauf ganz gut hin.
Nur zur Erklärung: All morgendlich reihen sich die Eltern mit ihren Kindern im Auto im Hof der Schule auf. Man steigt nicht mit aus. Die Lehrerin nimmt das Kind direkt am Auto entgegen und bringt es in seine Klasse. Und beim Abholen muss sich jedes Auto per Namensschild identifizieren und kriegt dann das entsprechende Kind gebracht und angeschnallt. Man muss nur noch losfahren. Manche Eltern nehmen das zu Anlass, sich nur obenrum richtig anzuziehen, andere gehen ganz im Schlafanzug. Sehr witzig.
Stella ist in Mrs Kathys Klasse und fühlt sich dort sehr wohl. Die Sache mit dem Buchstabenlernen und Schreiben ist eher Pipifax für sie, aber das Basteln und Spielen mit den anderen, ist genau das was ihr zuletzt fehlte. Neben ihrer Cousine Bella, die in der Parallelklasse ist, hat sie schon viele neue Freunde gefunden ( Brock, Samira und Harper sind die Namen, die ich am häufigsten höre). Auch sind bereits die ersten Geburtstagseinladungen ins Haus geflattert.
Nach dem 1. Schultag wurde die Schultüte geöffnet. Sie war gefüllt mit allerlei Kleinigkeiten und Leckereien aus good old Germany. Fun, fun, fun!!!!!

Lucien würde am liebsten auch schon zur Schule gehen. Er sagt immer. Sissy school, Lulu auch!!!.
Nein, mein kleiner Mann bleibt noch ein Weilchen bei Mama, denn so schön wie es ist Stella jetzt in der Schule zu haben( und ich bekomme plötzlich viel mehr erledigt;)) so schwer trägt das Mutterherz doch daran, dass sie schon so gross ist

Wow Stella ist so gross geworden!!!!Aber eines bleibt gleich Püppi muss dabei sein ;)


Der Umzug nach Amerika hat für uns nicht nur Aufbruch zu neuem bedeuted, sondern wir mussten vieles und viele liebgewonnenen Dinge und Menschen zurücklassen. Ganz besonders schwer war es für Stella nicht mehr im Kindergarten in Neulussheim zu sein und ihre Freunde täglich sehen zu können. Umso schöner war es nun bei unserem Besuch, alle Kindergartenfreunde wiedersehen zu können. Frau Roth und Frau Theil erlaubten Stella nicht nur einen kurzen Besuch, nein sie durfte sogar den ganzen morgen bleiben. Was für ein riesen Spass! Und es war als wäre sie nie weg gewesen.
Vor unserer Abreise hatten wir ein Freundebuch dagelassen, dass Stella nun zurückbekommen hat. Die ganze Mäusegruppe hat sich darin verewigt und Stella hütet es wie ein Schatz!!!!

Lucien fand das Treiben im Kindergarten höchst interessant; er konnte nur leider nicht verstehen warum er da nicht mitmischen konnte.

Wie immer gab es zum Schluss ein Abschiedslied und dieses mal durfte Stella sich das Lied wünschen. Was für ein schöner Abschluss!!!!
Mitlerweile hat Stella hier mit der Schule bzw Vorschule begonnen und es macht ihr soooooo viel Spass. Es war auch wirklich Zeit. Wir haben die letzten 9 Monate zu Hause miteinander genossen aber sie braucht einfach mehr kleine Menschen in ihrer Welt. Jeden Tag höre ich neue Namen und Geschichten, aber nix und niemand kommt an ihre 2 besten Freunde Fabienne und Katharina dran.

Rüdi und Franzi 10. September 2010

One of our big events while we were in Germany was the wedding of my brother Rüdiger and Franzi on the 10th of September 2010.
We were so grateful to be there for their special day.
After a busy week of preparations and cold rainy weather in Germany, everything fell into place that day.
The weather was gorgeous, we had created a beautiful set up for the church and the restaurant and the bride looked absolutely stunning.

The kids were super excited about the wedding and were absoluty perfect the entire day!

We were ready for a wonderful day
Stella loved her dress and felt like a princess herself. Not only was she one of the flowergirls but also the ring girl.

She was so proud of carrying those golden shiny rings, she could not keep her eyes off of them.
She did a wonderful job and I think she was old enough, she will treasure moments of this beautiful day forever.
Lucien was just having a good time and was well entertained with what was going on all day long.

Off we went to our party location to celebrate the newlyweds. It was so nice to see so many friends and family in one day. We really enjoyed hanging out with peopple we have not seen in a long time.

The party lastet til early in the morning and the kids were lil angels. Lucien slept in the pack-and-play in a room next door to the music, but he did not care. Stella was up until past midnnight and finally wanted to go sleep in the car. We drove home around 3 am in the morning and the two were sound asleep.


I feel very blessed to be able to call Franzi finally my sister- in-law. She is such a sweet, caring and loving person, loving Rüdi with the bottom of her heart( which makes me so happy). They are truly a perfect match. We love you guys so much!
